Shelba Jean House Dawson




Holly Springs – Shelba Jean House Dawson age 81, passed away at her home on September 28, 2018.

Shelba is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene “Gene” Dawson; parents, James Harvey House and Betty Mae Jones House; sisters, Leona Blalock ( Brack), Estelle Partin (Kenneth), Constance Underwood (George), Myrtle Matthews (Bruce).

She is survived by stepdaughter, Eugenia (Gena) Dawson Boyd and husband, Bobby; step-grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Boyd; niece, S. Teresa Underwood; nephew, Tony Kip Underwood and wife, Amber; and other nieces and nephews; and her two cats Patches and Little Bit who she loved dearly.

Shelba was born in Angier, NC on October 13, 1936. She went to Holly Springs School for eight years, then attended Apex for high school. After high school she attended Kings College for two years.

Shelba worked for Human resources at North Carolina State University for 31 years. She is a lifetime member of Holly Springs United Methodist Church and sang in the Church Choir. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and of the SWEET senior women group.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Holly Springs United Methodist Church 108 Avent Ferry Rd, Holly Springs NC. Family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
