Jennifer Ashworth Cloer of Wilmington, North Carolina died peacefully Thursday, September 6, 2018. Jennifer was born on October 7, 1947 to the late Thomas Rufus Ashworth and the late Rheunelle Elizabeth Ashworth both of Fuquay-Varina, NC. She is survived by her loving husband Winston Charles Cloer of Wilmington, daughters Cameron Ashworth Smith of Carolina Beach and Erin Smith Thompson of Wilmington, brother Joseph Saunders Ashworth and wife Lynn of Fuquay-Varina, step-daughter Jennifer Kristen Cloer of Santa Cruz, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Leighton Adam Thompson and William Crawford Thompson of Wilmington and Sasha Harper of Santa Cruz, nieces Maggie Ashworth and Zoe Garriss of Fuquay-Varina.
After graduating from Fuquay-Varina High School, she attended Peace College in Raleigh and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jennifer lived in Greensboro, for 40 years where she taught preschool at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School.
Jennifer was a devoted mother and friend. She loved nothing more than spending every possible moment with her grandchildren. Her humor, kindness and beautiful smile will be missed by so many.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dean Karras of New Hanover Medical Group and the entire staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and DaVita Wilmington Dialysis Center for their wonderful care and compassion.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Visitation following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
