Obituary

Fuquay-Varina - Jane Elizabeth Elmgren McCarrick MacLean Dean, age 93, took up permanent residence in her heavenly home August 2, 2018.

She was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on October 24, 1924 to Rev. Frithiof and Florence Elmgren.

Among the many places she lived are Algoma, MI; Grandville, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Manistique, MI and Fuquay-Varina, NC

Following her passion for helping others, Jane went to Blodgett School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. Her long career as a registered nurse continued through her daughter, Karen Reid, and two granddaughters who are also nurses.

She married Harold McCarrick in 1945. They were blessed with four children: Karen (Bob) Reid, Wayne McCarrick, Carol (Darryl) Bartos and Donald (Betsy) McCarrick.
In 1962, Jane and the children moved to Manistique, MI where she met and married Donald MacLean. Jane and family moved south to North Carolina to follow her career.
Donald MacLean passed away in 1979. Jane later married Heulon Dean on Feb 6, 1988. Her family expanded to include Lisa (Hal) Upchurch and later their son Zach.

Jane had many hobbies, especially in music. She was a skilled pianist and singer, blessing family and friends with her gifts. Lending her talents to her faith community, Jane served as the accompanist for the senior adult choir at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church for many years.

Jane had a large family whom she loved and cared for dearly. They will miss her but count themselves fortunate to have had her in their lives.

She is survived by her children, Karen (Bob) Reid, Carol (Darryl) Bartos, Donald (Betsy) McCarrick and Lisa (Hal) Upchurch; grandchildren, Debbie (Alan) Sharp, Jeff (Gloria) Reid, Scott Bartos, Kristin and Alexandria McCarrick, Sandy (Greg) Rankel and Zach Upchurch; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Tyler and Caleb Sharp; Brianna Reid; Sarah, Owen and Tess Rankel

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Wayne McCarrick; husbands, Harold McCarrick, Donald MacLean, and Heulon Dean; and her sister, Eunice Hanson.

Please join us Monday, August 6th at 2:00pm at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church, 301 Woodrow St, Fuquay-Varina to celebrate her life. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
