Fuquay-Varina - Frank J. Barrosa, 90, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, passed away quietly at home on June 1, 2018.

The only child of Manuel and Ledda (Giardini) Barrosa, Frank was born in 1927 in Tenafly, NJ. In 1945 he graduated from Tenafly High School and entered the US Army, serving two years in occupied Japan. Upon returning, he took a job with the state of New Jersey, working as a land surveyor from the inception of the Interstate Highway System, until his retirement more than 40 years later.

Frank married Janice James in 1962 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Englewood, NJ. They settled in Mahwah, NJ, where they raised three daughters. He served in the Mahwah Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 for more than 35 years. Frank and Janice were active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ramsey, NJ, until they relocated to Fuquay-Varina, NC, in 2005.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 50 years. He is survived by his children Suzanne (David) DeGregorio of East Haddam, CT, Barbara Barrosa of Mahwah, NJ, and Donna Chacon of Willow Springs, NC; grandchildren Jacqueline and John DeGregorio, Kyle (Julia) and Francesca Birkfeld, Carlos (Maru) Charre and Michael Chacon.

The family extends special thanks to Robert Fraunberger for his attentive care at the end of Frank's life.
