W. Odell Mann

Willow Spring – After 87 years of a life filled with love of God, family and country, W. Odell Mann has passed on to his eternal reward. He will be joining his parents, W. Farrington and Ella Dean Mann of Raleigh and his youngest child and son, Tim Mann of Durham. Known as Dad, Granddad and The Ole Cowpoke, his favorite moniker was My Sweetie which is how his wife, Rachael Mann, has spent the last 64 years referring to him. An engineer by training and cowboy by soul and spirit, Odell is survived and remembered by Rachael; three children, Carole (Jim) Grady of Raleigh, Niles (Bunny) Mann of Snow Camp, and Susan (Kerry) Ringled of Hope Mills; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Krystal) Grady, Tom Mann, Ben Lipscomb, Tony (Jessica) Mann, Stacy (Josh) Smith, Shannon Hand, Jeremy (Leah) Ringled, Ashley (Tim) Rose and Meghan McCrory; 11 great-grandchildren; countless congregants, waitresses, passers-by and acquaintances. Never knowing a stranger, his family and friends will honor his life as he lived it – with open arms and an open heart.

As this world hands off a good and great man to the next, those that knew him will endeavor to do him proud. He will be remembered fondly with every child’s laugh, every flag moving in the breeze and in the scriptures that guided his life.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 2017 at Evangel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 201 Meadow Drive, Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive family and friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
