Carol Strickland Wilson




Willow Spring - Carol Strickland Wilson, 60, passed away on Saturday, December 30 2017 after an extended illness. Due to weather, memorial service has been rescheduled to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Piney Grove Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family will receive family and friends following the service.

A Fuquay-Varina native born to Dewitt and Anna Margaret (Prince) Strickland on November 22, 1957.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; great-niece and nephew, Eden Richelle and John Bradley Hudson.

Carol was a loving wife, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many. She was a true avian lover and twice past president of the Raleigh-Durham Caged Bird Society. She held positions as the Raffle Coordinator and Educational Program Director for the annual Pet Bird Fair where proceeds were used for avian research and conservation. She previously owned "Everything Birdie", an online store where she often donated food and toys to several avian rescue groups and sanctuaries. She previously volunteered with Mended Hearts of Raleigh, a cardiovascular education and support group.

Surviving is her husband of 32 years, Phil Wilson; brothers, Brent (Caroline) Strickland of Carolina Beach, NC, and Chad (Stacy) Strickland of Medford, OR; sister, Lisa (Brad) Odom of Darlington, SC; nephew, Thomas (Kayla) Strickland of Angier, NC; niece, Nikki (John) Hudson of Fuquay-Varina, NC; 1 great nephew; 2 great nieces; and dear friends Terry Perry and Kathy Elam. She is also leaving behind her beloved 11-year-old yorkie, Boo Boo.
