Fuquay-Varina - Emmett E. Arnold, age 78, died Saturday, August 26, 2017. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.
Emmett "Buck" Arnold, retired US Air Force veteran and postal worker was born to
parents Elmer Emmett Arnold and Marion Venable Arnold on September 2, 1938 in
Boise, ID. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Joyce Gourley Arnold of Fuquay -Varina, NC, son Paul Arnold and his wife Debby of Tulsa, OK, Shari Arnold Vincent and her husband Kim of Raleigh, NC, Christine Arnold Richmond and her husband Ray of Fuquay- Varina, NC. He has two sisters Ruth Arnold Damon and her husband David of Birch Bay, WA, Nancy Arnold Wage and her husband Tom Wage of Galt, CA. Buck has eight grandchildren: Leah, Brad, Kristy, Kara, Katie, Brandi, David and Matthew and six great grandchildren: Maddox, Miles, Noah, Ella Ryan, Kylee and Ethan. Buck spent much of his young life in and around Boise, ID and Washington State. He graduated from Boise High School. He joined the Air National Guard for two years then enlisted in the US Air Force for 20 years. He counted many places home during his military career as a flight line mechanic and finally an electronics instructer. Duty stations and retirement residences included: California, Utah, Hawaii, Philippines,Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and North Carolina. Buck was a gardener in every sense of the word. If it was possible to get something to grow out of the ground, he found a way to make it happen. From a garden vegetable to grafting fruit trees, he was passionate about it. Buck and Joyce enjoyed many years traveling together on their own adventures and to see their children, grandchildren and great grand children.

A very nice picture, Joyce. We enjoyed our brief time with Buck and recognized his love for gardening. He was a hard worker.
