Nathan Thaddeus Williams, 89, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 304 Raleigh St, Holly Springs, NC. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery.
Nathan is survived by his wife of 60 years Carolyn Hall Williams; son Kevin Williams and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Mitchell Williams, and Rebecca Williams Ledford and husband, Curtis.
Born and raised in Merry Oaks, in Chatham County; Nathan Thaddeus Williams was the youngest of 7 children. After graduating from high school, Nathan met Carolyn Hall through a mutual friend. They dated for 7 years until marrying in 1957. Nathan and Carolyn were happily married for 60 years and had 1 son, Kevin. Nathan began working for Piedmont Woodyards in 1950, becoming co-owner in 1970. He retired in 2006 after 56 years of dedicated service. He was known as a family man and spent his free time with family, that he dearly loved. Nathan had 2 grandchildren, Mitchell and Rebecca, multiple nieces and nephews, and multiple grandnieces and grandnephews. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and a Trustee. He also served as a Holly Springs Town Commissioner and you still find his portrait hanging in the Town Hall today. Nathan is buried with all rights and honors of a Master Mason, lifetime member and served as Worshipful Master Mason of Holly Springs Lodge #115.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.
