Leon Macon Pearce

Holly Springs - Leon Macon Pearce, 85, went to his eternal Christ-prepared home peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. A home-going celebration is planned for 2:00 p.m. at Baptist Grove Baptist Church, 6140 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Julian; and precious granddaughter Madison Pearce.

Leon was born in Willow Spring, NC to E.B. and Eva Pearce on January 13, 1932. Leon graduated from Fuquay Springs High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In high school he met the love of his life, Allie Mae Hester. They were married after high school on Christmas Eve 1955. Leon has often said that Allie Mae had made him the happiest man on the earth for all the years they had been married. Leon was a farmer by trade, but also worked over 25 years at the Lufkin Rule Company in Apex, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Allie Mae Hester Pearce, Fuquay, NC; his three sons, Sammy and his wife, Sonya, Tim and his wife, Susan, Ben and his wife, Renee, all of Fuquay, NC. His four grandchildren, Daniel Pearce, Jackson Yates, Nicole Pearce, and Nate Pearce. A sister-in-law, Edith Pearce; and numerous nephews; and nieces.

Leon loved lots! He loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he loved his wife of 62 years, he loved his children and grandchildren. Leon and Allie Mae traveled the world together on over 30 cruises. Leon was “one heck” of a football player and he was a force to be reckoned with on the famous unbeaten and unscored Fuquay High School team of 1949. Leon was blessed to be a member of two great Sunday School classes during his life. The first was the Page Class at Fuquay Baptist Church and the second was the Adult Men’s Class at Baptist Grove Baptist Church. He made many friendships that lasted a life time. Leon was a true servant of Jesus, serving as a deacon in Christ’s church and showing the love of Jesus in many practical ways. He never met a stranger and loved whomever he met. He was about as close to being a perfect dad and husband, as a human can be.

A visitation for the family will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

The family of Leon Pearce has so many things to be thankful for. But during his last few days on earth there were so many people who assisted the family. A special thank-you goes to Eileen and Andrea of Genteva Home Health, Pat, Tammy, and Julie of Center Pearce, and Dr. Silvaraj and his staff.

Flowers are accepted or donations can be made in memory of Leon to Baptist Grove Baptist Church.
